COVID Safety
A COVID Safe Plan is in place for Brisbane Queer Film Festival
If you are displaying symptoms of COVID-19 or are feeling unwell, please stay home.

Brisbane Queer Film Festival is committed to the ongoing safety of our volunteers and patrons. We will cooperate with QLD Health and adhere to New Farm Cinemas COVID Safety Plan, in accordance to operating under the guidelines of the cinema industry COVID-19 safety plan for Queensland which can be viewed here.

Brisbane Queer Film Festival will screen at the following venues:
New Farm Cinemas (701 Brunswick Street, New Farm)
Institute of Modern Art (IMA) (Ground Floor, Judith Wright Arts Centre, 420 Brunswick Street, Fortitude Valley)

New Farm Cinemas / BQFF will advise ticket holders at time of purchase all up-to-date COVID related information they will need. QLD Cinema Industry COVID Safety plan is available in the link above.

Programming and Scheduling
At the current time of creating this plan, masks are not mandatory. Guests are encouraged to wear masks when entering and leaving the auditorium. BQFF will be updating the plan accordingly in line with QLD Health / Cinema Industry restrictions.

Wear a mask where physical distancing is not possible*.

Refunds will be provided to patrons who cannot attend an event due to COVID-19 related lockdown / shutdown of a venue. In the case of a cancelled screening, patrons will be offered a credit for another BQFF 2021 session, or a physical BQFF screening in the future (to be used at any time), or a refund. Please note transfers to a New Farm Cinema session is not permitted.

All sessions start and end times will be staggered with ample time in between sessions to ensure time to clean cinemas and to clear the cinema and foyers for the next session.

Each venue has implemented their own COVID Safety Plan in terms of capacity, QR scanning and cleaning. New Farm Cinemas collect name and contact details of patrons as they enter the site using QR codes. Guests will check-in using QR code system which is set up at the box office of New Farm Cinemas.

BQFF will work with venue partners to reduce queues and restrict the number of partons waiting / loitering in a space.

IMA is a free, general admission venue and capacity restrictions are in place. The capacity is based on the 1 person per 2m2 currently required.

New Farm Cinemas manages all BQFF ticketing*, and will only offer refunds for closure of the venue due to any new COVID restrictions. In the unfortunate event to be shut down by the Queensland Government, due to a COVID lockdown, then New Farm Cinemas will offer a credit for a future booking (no refunds) the credit will be valid for either another BQFF session or a Five Star session at New Farm Cinemas only.
(*except at IMA, which manage their own ticketing.)
